Fired some 357 loads from 3 or 4 years back with 150 gr. Sierra JHC loaded atop 2400: avg. 1806 fps. Fired in new R92 16 inch. Have no more of this bullet. Might be good coyote meds.
Also fired a couple with Speer 170 gr. FP and 2400: 1671 fps. avg. Not shot any for accuracy yet and want to try the Speer with some H110 I just got. I'm pleased with the velocities as it stands and both loads appear to be completely safe in this gun. Next will be a Hornady 158 XTP/FP just acquired. Will do some accuracy stuff after cast is removed from left hand in a coupla weeks.
Never had more fun than with this little carbine, I will say. Wish I'd done this sooner.

It is always great to get out and "spark test" your favorites, a chrony just makes it more official!

Care to share the details on the 1800 FPS 150gr 2400 load?

Re: Chrono (pt 2)
A quick scroll through Sierra's web site seems to indicate that that 150 gr is not being produced. Not that I plan to use it again on IHMSA targets but I used a lot of them in the Contender in 357 Herret that I shot in production back in the day (earlyb9's) so bummer.

Re: Chrono (pt 2)
These bullets were donated by a friend who won't load w/o book data. As I recall, I used 158 gr. data, worked up toward the max but kept 2 or 3 tenths under the max. Can't remember the details, (been a while) but like I said it seems to be quite safe in this gun. I was mildly surprised by the 1800 fps reading, expecting more like 1750 avg. or so. I have no more to load, and only about 20 or so left to try callin' coyotes so no more testing'll be done. I'm satisfied. Yes, they no longer make the 150 gr. JHC. Too bad.GasGuzzler wrote:Care to share the details on the 1800 FPS 150gr 2400 load?
I'll be loading 158 XTP's (FP) soon and will report back. I'll be happy with 1700 fps or so if I can get decent accuracy. I want to load these for close range deer. They walk by my house every day!
