Note the NEW pot, clean inside. This pic is when I first turned it on to burn off the assembly oil. I've had this pot for nearly a year.

I smelted the lead nearly three years ago. I chose 4:1 COWW to SOWW because that's about the ratio of what I have stored away. After this batch of lead was smelted I moved from a muffin pan to an iron corn-shaped cornbread pan and combined the COWW and SOWW. I'll probably keep them separated from now on.



Here are the first two "bullets" from a brand new mold at the hand of a brand new caster.

The pot was set to pour way too fast at first so lead would go all over the sprue plate without filling the mold. The lead wasn't yet hot enough.



Progress left to right as the mold hot broken in and I got more comfortable.



Got everything adjusted to yield some OK bullets. Then I started moving consistently quicker and started getting frosty.....all because I was working faster I guess. Ended up turning the pot down from 9 to 4 when I got quick.

Then finally I got a big pile (378) after throwing back a bunch of frosties that likely could have been used.

That is a nice pile of bullets! Nearly free too, mold and pot is at least half paid for!

Yeap, looks real good! Nothing like dropping your own!

Kinda like kids learning to walk, ride a bike, etc. They study others and learn in their heads....then when they feel ready they try and go....

Yes, 90303 2-cavity. I have a TL-158 also.

I bought that exact same mold for a buddy to use about five years ago ... needless to say, I've shot a lot of those particular bullets. As a matter of fact, the only time I took my "new to me" .357 R92 to the range to test it (before it became a scattered pile of parts in waiting ), that particular rnfp proved to be the most accurate bullet of the three or four bullet profiles we shot.

Nice job, Gas, and frosty bullets shoot just as well as the other they may not be as pretty (eye of the beholder) and there is some thought that if you tumble lube you get more lube and it "sticks" better. I do a little tumble lube with Ben's Liquid (60% Lee Liquid Allox and 40% Johnson One Step). So far it's worked great in the 1911's with Lee's 452-228RF.
