Shot the 41 trapper with it's new Skinner peep sight yesterday...Missionary wrote:Along with many others we do wait to read about the range test. How it cycles, ejects and of course actually shoots.
It's hard to hold steady on a ridge within sight of Virginia
when the wind is gusty, but the trapper shot well...
Using a couple of bags it shot
25 yards about 1" high
100 yards busted a 1 qt soda bottle
150 yards hit low but in the black
I shot mag after mag without any feeding problems but one described below. The ammo was full power loads: 18 grains 2400 with a 215 grain SWC bullet.
The trapper never jammed with me... however, a young fellow managed to jam it. I think he pulled back on the lever when a round was halfway out of the magazine. It jammed with the round on top of the carrier. The bullet had two scrapes on the bottom. I couldn't see how it was stuck. Will look into it and figure it out.
Otherwise, the only feeding problem is that, on rare occasion, a round doesn't lift up into the chamber willingly. The lever stops about halfway, you move it back ever so slightly, and it chambers the round just fine. Looked like the bullet nose was hanging up at the barrel. I was using SWC bullets. I bet it wouldn't happen with RN bullets.
