Mine is a Ruger Blackhawk Chris. I bought it in the mid-seventies and feel the same way about it.
At my age, there IS nothing better than shooting.

Loaded a bunch of 41 magnum rounds... 18 grains of 2400 with 215 grain cast bullets... shoot well in revolvers, can't wait to try them in the rifle! Barrel has been ordered, but not delivered yet. So, we wait...

I heard from another customer that my 94 has been re-barreled, and he's tweaking the extraction and ejection. Won't be long now!

You two are really making me wish (even more) that I didn't have a stack of hospital/surgical bills and double deductibles (Dec 2014 and Jan 2015) to cover.... otherwise I might just be following your lead

Re: R92 Chambered in 41 Mag?
Here it is! Rick Evans, gunsmith in Winston-Salem, did it all for me. He's done a few 41 magnum conversions, so I asked him to make mine. When I purchased the 1991 Marlin 94 in 44 magnum, I took it directly to Rick. Today, he called for me to pick up the finished product.
Rick replaced the barrel, installed the front sight, shortened the magazine tube, stamped ".41" on the barrel and tweaked the extraction and ejection. I replaced the safety with a saddle ring safety delete. The magazine holds 8 rounds. The rifle cost $600, and the work was $450. That's significantly less than purchasing a Marlin 41 carbine, if you can find one!
A friend suggested making it a Trapper, and I am glad he did. It feels great. I can't wait to take this little rifle into the woods, in search of Bambi next fall!
Tomorrow, I may be able to shoot it.

Re: R92 Chambered in 41 Mag?
Good evening
I just re-read this whole thread to remember what it was all about. Then to get to see the finished carbine was a joy. Along with many others we do wait to read about the range test. How it cycles, ejects and of course actually shoots.
Near 3 years ago I had JES rebore a 30-30 336 to .412 groove to make it a 414 Supermag. That worked so well once I figured out I needed to seat my cast bullets out to the first grease groove for a longer length I had JES do another 336 in his 405 JES rendering (.41-444).
When I get back north next year I think I will make a "block" to expoxy on the 414SM 336 lifter and see if plain .41 Mag cartriges will cycle. If that works a rusty bore 336 ($100) can be sent to JES Reboring and for about $250 be rebored to .412 and rechambered for $50 to have a 41 mag rifle on the cheap.

Re: R92 Chambered in 41 Mag?
I do not know. Douglas supplied the barrel already bored and rifled, so all Rick had to do was thread & chamber it, attach the front sight & mag tube, then blue it.Ranch Dog wrote:What bore/groove diameter was used?
