Glad it finally showed up. Never used the Gunskin though...

Yesterday I found enough part boxes of 357 which allowed a range trip. I mounted a 4X Leupold in the extremely high rings that came with the 357 but today they're coming off and being sent to Ruger to exchange for a lower set. I fired the attached targets at 25 yds which I thought would give me an indication as to how this rifle was going to shoot. A very perplexing target pattern emerged. The first shot with almost every load shot about an inch above where the next 4 shots would impact.

My trio of 77 Slash rifles-22LR, top, 44 Mag Middle, 357 bottom Initial groups. The favorite load of my 357, 1894CB Best group of the afternoon I see enough encouraging signs that I hope will blossom into an accurate, reliable tool. Biggest detractor is the heavy but crisp trigger. Note the trigger shoe on the 22.

Looks promising steelbanger and it's a great looking rifle. You may have to invest in an aftermarket trigger or find a good gunsmith. A nice, crisp 3.5 lb trigger would tighten up those groups even more.

first shot ..... maybe related to cold barrel (or just slightly cooler barrel) between strings?

I've put all the work on my 300 Savage on hold waiting to get some idea of how far down the road it will be until this rifle shows up. I have near 800 300 Savage cases that I bought at the right price so I can turn a profit on this that cartridge pretty quick. Just the new primed 300 Savage brass that I have would pay for the rifle.

I've got my eye on the same rifle but in .223. I tend to favor stainless guns and the all weather stainless model is available in an 18 inch .223 for $40 over the ranch rifle. Decisions, decisions.
