STOP THIS NOW MICHAEL!!
My new rifle hasn't been delivered yet and you are awakening an urge to try one of these Rugers. That mud colored one sure is pretty. No wonder I am always broke. I bet butterfly collecting isn't expensive so maybe I should try that next year.

I attended a funeral this morning for the wife of one of my late first cousins. They lived in the greater Philadelphia area and have three grown children, one of which used to hunt whenever they visited central PA. He used his grandfathers 20 ga. L.C.Smith double, the same gun my dad used to borrow when we hunted. I inquired today as to the whereabouts of said double and the former hunter told me that he gave it to his nephew. I told him of my wish that this L.C. should stay in the family, he agreed and told me he would look into it when he gets back home. I can only hope. I look at this as if it is supposed to happen, it will. And soon, I hope.

I don't mind the Ruger American although I suspect as a lightweight it kicks a mite with the 06 / 08 cartridges I tend to prefer. I'm not wild about the magazines on them though. Pretty lightweight plastic shell.

As long as we're wishing I would like to see the Ruger in 35 Remington. Talk about a compact powerhouse! That one would get me over the 336ss LTD that I let slip away.

After this long wait my rifle was delivered yesterday and I picked it up last evening. I really wanted the blue model but somehow a Stainless model was delivered. I did tell the dealer that if a blue wasn't available I would take the SS so here I am with that option.
No visit to the range today but I did check out the feeding with dummy cartridges. So far everything I fed it ran smoothly, even RD'a 190 gr. 35Rem bullet although that one is a bit long to eject while the end of the bullet nose is at the edge of the chamber. I may slug the barrel this afternoon before I load anything for trial. The rings that came with the rifle are a bit too high so off they go to New Hampshire in exchange for a lower set. More coming at a later date.
Changing the subject here for a question. Has any member ever used those stick-on Gunskin camo pattern stock coverings? They run around $50 and their video makes it look easy.
