I do have a 71ish clone called the 86/71 made by Pedersoli........it is a 71 design rifle in 45-70.
I didn't want a real 71 because I didn't want to get into a proprietary caliber (348 Winchester) with hard to obtain ammo choosing the generic 45-70 instead.
I have plenty of Winchester 94s both pre & post 64.
I was intrigued by the Winchester 64 but never had the opportunity to acquire one.......I will if the gun condition & price are right some day.
Enjoy yours !
Merry Christmas & a Happy Rootin Tootin Shootin +guns New Year.

I know this is an older thread but as a new member I have a lot of interesting old posts to read. OP, that is a fine looking rifle. Any chance that you could post more pics of the sights? I would especially like to know more about that receiver sight.

Thanks for the interest.
I will try to get some close up pics to post. It may take a bit since either me or my camera ( I say it is the camera) does not take very good close ups.

This sight was a original factory option back in the day. Sorry, but I can't seem to upload my pics.
I would be happy to email them to you if I had your address.

Success !!
The last pic is one I got off the internet, that is why it is so much sharper than the ones I took.

So the sight is attached to the bolt and not the left side of the receiver. I have a model 94 that sight would look perfect on. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics. That is one really nice rifle.

Yes, I do reload for it. Just one load, a 55 grain jword and 22 Gr. of IMR4895.
I do all my serious rifle reloading on a turret but ran across a LeeLoader in .219 Zipper and could not pass it up. It reminds me of the early days.
lonnydk,
Very nice rifle! I have a Marlin 336SC-219 Zipper and my favorite load is the Speer 46gr FP pushed by 28.0gr/H4895.

Dan 444,
That is a very good load. I am a big fan of 4895 and use it for all but my 5.56 which uses TAC.
As a side note, except for my reduced Unique loads, all my rifle loads run well with 4895.

Yes, I find H4895 very accurate in reloads for my (Marlins): 219 Zipper, 30-30, 32Spl., 35Rem, 356Win and 375Win. I use H335 for the big thumpers: 444 Marlin and 45-70. I shoot Ranch Dog hard cast lead bullets in all of these rifles.

Best,
Dan
