I am looking at getting a peep sight for my Rossi Mi65
I have been looking at the Williams FP for some time, but I like the look of the Skinner Bolt mountet 1886 type or the 94AE style better.
The 1886 Style needs the bolt to be tapped.
Or the 94AE style better.
This one needs the top of the receiver to be Tapped.
I can see that this could be a challenge, on the 1892.
Have anyone tried those, on their Rossi 1892?
Or should I just go with the Williams FP, and tap the side of the receiver?
Mine is an older model, marked Armadeo Rossi, without the Safety.
I would have to do the tapping myself.
I do have drills(Carbide with Ti coating) and taps
And a Drill Press.

Re: Skinner Peep - Bolt mount og 94AE Style?
JRexA... that 1886 style looks sharp. I wonder if you could fabricate a plug, drill & tap it, to mount that sight in an R92 bolt assembly?
NOTE: Just a reminder and I'm probably overstating stating the obvious, when drilling a hole in any receiver (tempered metal) always use a center drill to pilot the hole first. Also, I would suggest using the shortest, NOT JOBBER LENTH, drill bit for rigidity to drill the hole.

One Mounting Hole on the 71/1886 Peep is in front of the locking lug.
But there is no room there on the Rossi 1892.
As for the rear hole, my Rossi is a pre safety version, No issue there..
Well 94AE or Williams FP
It looks more and more like Williams FP is the best choice.

I have a barrel mounted Skinner.

If you want adjustability for elevation and windage then go with the williams FP. That is the reason most people use them.
I have one on my henry rifle that I shoot steel silhouette with. I need to adjust for the 40 to 100 yard targets.
If not then go with just a peep sight.
I have seen several style/mounting of the rear peep. So look around some.

Re: Skinner Peep - Bolt mount or 94AE Style?
I like the bolt mounted peep really well, but I would not think the adjustability is in it. Also I would not want to drill and tap the receiver and or bolt. If I was going to drill and tap the receiver I would definitely go with the Williams and or Lyman peep sight. But bye far my favorite style kind of like peep sight is the Marbles Bullseye sight. Love the way this sight is made and the way your eye quickly centers the front sight and able to pick up your target quickly. I have this sight on nine different lever action rifles. From 95 action, 1892 actions, HENRY (Marlin Style) actions. 45/70 all the way down to 22 lr. works really well.

I like that sight too, but would like a smaller aperture.
