Wednesday I bought a 92 in 45 Colt. I don't know how old but seems to be in overall good condition. I know the previous owner either slicked the action or had it done as that info was provided to shop that had it on consignment.
Action is buttery smooth, but was definitely over-oiled. I pulled it down yesterday and gave it a thorough cleaning. There was a fair amount of fouling in the receiver and all internals, even the mag follower was coated with it!
Ran my borescope down the bore, it too, was dirty and plenty of carbon. I prefer to start with clean everything and work from there, so the bore got scrubbed to bare metal and I'll re-season once my brass shows up.
A few things I noted once disassembled, the mag follower has been replace with SS, the safety lever has been removed and capped with a SS cap, load gate is SS, factory rear sight (came with the rifle) was replaced with a ghost ring, front sight has a white bead, and a leather wrap was added to the standard lever.
Wood to metal fit is decent to good and the color is pleasing.
Pics when I get back to my desktop PC.
The ejector has a flat wire spring, unsure if it's factory or some other.

Mazeltov! Sounds like a good find. It never ceases to amaze me that sellers don’t clean a firearm. What improvements are you planning?

Sounds great, love to see the pictures when they come. Only thing I replaced on mine was the ejector spring. Good to know you don't have to do any of that. Congratulations on the find.

Here's one after a thorough cleaning...
A few before the clean up, forgot to use macro for the lever pic...
