.480 Ruger ammo
I just spoke with the hornaday ammo rep for my area. They are making .480 Ruger ammo and bass pro shops is stocking it. I bought two boxes this evening. $34.00 a box xtp hollow point 325 grain. Just figured I’d pass it along.

Re: .480 Ruger ammo
Thats for a box of 50? If so, 70 cents each. Or $1.36 each if a box of 25. EDIT: Oops, just looked it up at Midway, theyre boxes of 20 so $1.70pc
I didnt feel like getting out of bed this morning so did some calculations using the Handloading Cost Calculator at handloading.com and using that same xtp bullet (pricey, $43 for a box of 50 at Midway) and averaging 25gr per load one could get the cost per bullet down to a buck. Thats not including the cost of cases though
For comparison if ones using the 340gr powder coated RNFPs from MBC at $53 for a box of 300 the price per cartridge is down to 34 pennies. Not bad.

I usually reload myself too. Factory loaded ammo is usually not as accurate. But for a sledge hammer like the .480 I’ll occasionally pick up a box.

Not criticizing, just running the numbers for my own knowledge and also for fun. My current living situation has my firearms and reloading equipment halfway across the country
But even when we were shooting almost weekly, wifey and i are of the mind that one should carry factory ammo to avoid the 'mankiller bullets' defense so all carry ammo was factory. And none of it is cheap

Re: .480 Ruger ammo
Ammo Seek shows several sellers at around $1.18-$1.25 a round.
Of course then you've got to add in shipping.

I use gundeals to get an idea of the cost per round if I were to buy. you can enter your zip and get even shipping cost added into it. I haven't bought any in a long time. Just thought I would add this site to those searching for best price. I have no connections to this site but use it as a resource. select your caliber enter your zip it does the work
