TWIST RATE IN 92
TWIST RATE IN 92
Hey RD or anyone who may know, what is the twist rate for 92's in 44mag and 45 Colt ?
Re: TWIST RATE IN 92
1 in 30. I went with Rossi 'cuz I wanted a reasonably quick rate of twist plus stainless steel.

TWIST RATE IN 92
If the rate is 1:30 does that mean the bullet only does one full rotation in a 30 inches ? That doesnt seem like much
Re: TWIST RATE IN 92
A Marlin .44 Magnum has a 1:38" twist, my Redhawk .44 pistol has 1:20" which is considered better for heavy bullets. The R92 kind of splits the difference and I was getting pretty good results from 240gr SP even though I was only shooting at 25 yards.

Re: TWIST RATE IN 92
If the twist rate is 1:30 in 357, that would explain why my 1892 is so accurate with the shorter bullets.

Whatever it is, I'm happy with it. My 16" .357 is putting three hot-loaded 140 grain XTP's in two inches at 100 meters.

That is correct. Typically shorter bullets use slower twistsLeverlad wrote:If the rate is 1:30 does that mean the bullet only does one full rotation in a 30 inches ? That doesnt seem like much
