5" Mk 38 naval gun on Battleship Iowa. We fire blanks from this mounts (Mt 56) 2 guns on special occasions. There was actually a Senior Chief Gunner's Mate around and I asked him that question. He told me the 5" round id fired with modern smokeless powder. We use 1.5 pounds of cannon or FF for our shots.
