Re: New Member Checking In
Wow Steve, very nice looking rifles! Now I don't feel so bad about just having purchased a second 357 Mag! This winter all of my rifles are going to receive a wood face lift, the WATCO finsih looks really good. As I understood your other post related to this, you did nothing to the original finish and just worked on top of it?

Welcome Steve (I've seen you over at Leverguns).
Nice finish and has me wondering how it would look on the walnut on my Navy Arms.

Re: New Member Checking In
Have 3 of the old "sans safety" Amadeo Rossi 92s..........a 16" bbl 357 Mag, a 16" bbl 44 Mag and a 20" bbl 454 Casull.
I have reworked the actions of them all and they all do what they were designed to do which is be a short range utility rifle for self defense and sustenance hunting of anything from wolves, hogs & deer to elk, moose & large bears with the stouter 454 Casull loads.
The 92 isn't a bench rest or a long distance rifle..............I have other more suitable guns for those jobs.
"Pick the right tool for the job and you'll never be disappointed" as the old saying goes.
My rifles have the "plain Jane", dark legacy look of a gun that has been in an attic since the early 1900's and that's exactly what I want it to look like.
People say, "That old 92 is in good shape, it must have cost you a fortune" and I just smile.

That's a nice looking pair of 92's Steve. It's amazing how much the available light plays on the wood tone and grain. In bright sunlight the reds really pop.

Looks great! I got similar results with A couple coats of tung oil. No prep before adding the finish.
