Looking to add a Rossi Saddle ring carbine in 357 to the arsenal. I recently obtained a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag and had forgotten how much fun pistol caliber rifles are. Since Marlin/Remington 357 rifles are currently made from "unobtainium" and original JM Marlins sell for BIG bucks, I've decided to give Rossi a try. I'm no new comer to shooting, been at it for 45 years to include reloading and building my own bench rest rifles.

Re: Newbie from Georgia
Currently, I have a 223 Ackley Improved with a Krieger 1 in 8 twist, heavy varmint barrel, 26 inches. I built it on a Savage 110 action and use a single shot follower so I'm able to seat my bullets out as far as I want to right up to the 90 grain Sierra Match King. I've also built a 280 Ackley, 308, 6mm Norma BR and a 1 in 9 twist 223 Rem with a stainless fluted Savage barrel on a Model 10 action. To date, with the 223 Ackley, I've been able to get 1.2" groups at 300 yards loading the Hornady 75 grain A-Max over VV N-140 powder. The 308 and 280 Ackley now reside with friends who saw how well they shot and talked me into selling them. My son is the current owner of the 223 Rem and it too loves the 75 grain A-Max. This should have been sent to "akuzer47"!Kiwi-Hunter wrote:Welcome from the South Island nz.
