Free Desiccant

Post by LowKey »

If you like to put silica dissicant in your gun safe, gun cases or ammo cans,
you can often find small packets included in the plastic containers for your medicine
from the pharmacy.

It seems to show up more in the 90 day supply bottle than in the repackaged 30 day supply bottle.

A lot of the ones I've seen seem to be sealed in a plasticized pouch.
I'm not sure about reactivating them if the package is going to melt.

Its not free, but if you need desiccant in bulk you can do what I did: Cat Litter, 100% silica crystals, odor and perfume free. I don't recall the brand, but I'm sure a quick search will yield a few choices. I got a bunch of old socks, filled them and closed with nylon tie wraps. I use them in all my basement containers, in the event we get a back-to-back high humidity summer days. Throw them in an oven to dry out, but not too hot (you dont want those old socks to burst into flames).

Medezyner, thanks for posting.

Looks like Amazon carries this.
