Rossi 92 Carbine goes for a repair.

As some of you know, I will be sending a Rossi 92 Carbine back to them to be repaired. I am approaching this with an open mind and will do my best to document how everything goes. So, let me begin by plagiarizing another member here and present my checklist:
  1. [Done]Contact Rossi. I used the online chat (I can post a defanged copy if anyone wants) and was told to fill a work order online at http://www.rossiusa.com/prelog.cfm which then created a work order (I think) which I printed.
  2. [Done]Get a box. Got it and some bubbly packing.
    Image
  3. [Done]Printout a copy of the receipt. Also took pictures of the label on the box stating it is a refurb and it has the warranty on parts but not on the cosmetic stuff. Also printed out the same statement from the website I ordered that from. This is in response to the following part of the chat session:
    Fran 2:45:01 PM
    Used or new?

    Raubvogel 2:45:08 PM
I can provide receipt if needed

    Raubvogel 2:45:10 PM
    Refurb

    Fran 2:45:35 PM
The firearm can come in for inspection . There is a $35 bench fee for inspection.

    Raubvogel 2:46:09 PM
So, I have to pay to have it repaired under warranty?

    Fran 2:46:55 PM
Yes . There is no warranty on this firearm.

    Raubvogel 2:47:53 PM
    How come?

    Raubvogel 2:48:34 PM
According to the site I ordered it from and the paperwork that came with it, it has warranty on the parts, but not on the finish

    Raubvogel 2:49:08 PM
    1yr warranty

    Raubvogel 2:50:00 PM
    Order placed aug 25th

    Fran 2:50:02 PM
You can send the copy of that form and your proof of purchase to not be charge than.
  4. [Done]Decide which carrier to use and ship it. Plan is to have it out tomorrow. In the chat session, Fran said that
Please ensure the firearm is unloaded when shipping. Remove ALL aftermarket accessories from the firearm before shipping. Please make you include a note with your contact information and also the issue that you having with the firearm. We also want you to protect the finish of the firearm because we will not be responsible for any cosmetic or structural damage to the firearm due to poor packaging or loose items during shipping. The firearm should be wrapped and bagged in protective covering. You can send the firearm in the original box. The estimated turnaround for the repair will be 4-6wks . You can send your firearm through Fedex or UPS. You will send it to 16175 NW 49TH AVE HIALEAH FL, 33014.
Sounds like they recommend Fedex or UPS. But I am leaning towards USPS and it is not because of price believe it or not. Someone I know told me his business only ships backup drives through USPS because if something happens to them, a federal marshal gets to investigate it. Fact or fiction?

So, I ended up shipping USPS Priority with insurance and adult signature.
  5. [Done]Wait for box to be delivered. In other words, keep receiving tracking updates. Expected delivery 20161024.
    Image
USPS is yet to say it has delivered, but Rossi thinks they have it there, and probably arrived on time or something.
  6. Wait for an update from Rossi. This is where the fun begins. If it all goes well, they will get it, look into the barrel, and proceed to swap it. Or something that results in a carbine with a good barrel and no new problems.
We had replaced the Barrel chamber, there was no problem found with the Breech Bolt, shot Winchester- 38 Special 130 GR FMJ- 9 rounds and AMERICAN EAGLE- 357 MAG 158 GR JSP- 9 rounds .
  7. Wait for carbine to be shipped back.

11/08/2016 8:23 pm Left FedEx origin facility
    MIAMI, FL
11/08/2016 7:28 pm Arrived at FedEx location
    MIAMI, FL
    11/08/2016 3:18 pm Picked up
    MIAMI, FL
11/08/2016 7:49 am Shipment information sent to FedEx
It is scheduled to arrive on Nov 11, 2016.

And it arrived on Nov 10, 2016. :D
  8. Enjoy it.
Am I missing anything here?

Sounds like you got it covered. They went up 10 bucks on their inspections fee. That is how the conversation kind of went on my New, Old Stock (NOS) 308 Win Single Shot and I had had about two weeks. Especially in that I had did the warranty registration online as soon as I had possession of the rifle.

So, was this a KY Gun Co blem?

I use USPS for everything. To go to a UPS or FedEx pickup point is a 75 mile drive. While in the mold business, I sent 5K packages through USPS via Priority Mail and only one was lost. That one went to Russia and it was stolen once it left the last USPS tracking point. Of the dozen I sent to Russia, that was the only one that disappeared.

Oops. I've never done the online warranty registration. Should I do it ASAP?

Exactly, just like my Ranch's Hand, which was made on 20111026. The carbine was made on 20151021. I actually tried to get info on when they were sent to be refurbed but who I talked to said can't provide that info.

Did it disappear in Moscow more than 5 years ago by any chance? There is this story about the Moscovite postmaster having a bunch of mail burned behind the airport because they were backlogged and couldn't be bothered to step up to the plate.

So, I finished boxing everything (I need to post a picture of the carbine wrapped in bubblewrap goodness) and printed a USPS priority shipping label with insurance and adult signature required. I will be dropping it this morning when I go do some early voting (one is in the way of the other).

Are you talking about the candidates?

The timing of the Russian delivery would be about right!

Here is the cartridge taped to the barrel so they can't miss it.

And the bubbly package before shoving it into the box.

Don't know if this means USPS did not get to Rossi's location in time or what. We'll see what happens today.

So, USPS still has not updated the status for my package. And yet, according to Rossi,
