Bobcat with my Mini-30

Post by Ranch Dog »

Thought I would go out looking for a hog to shoot with my new Mini-30. Was easing down a two track that follows a creek bottom and this cat walked out quartering away from me at 50 yards. Rifle came up, scout setup is just an extension of the eyeball, and boom!

Okay, it is checked out so time to turn my attention back to my Rossi rifles!

That is a nice looking cat. We still have a few up here in the great Northeast (Texas), but not as many as 40-50 years ago. We also have more and more sightings of big black cats in the last few years. Do y'all have the big black cats down South or the big browns?

nice, I have always loved the m14 styling of these rifles. The fact that they are accurate now is golden.

Just a lot of bobcats. My Game Warden hunting buddy has been in this county for a long time and nothing larger than a bobcat has showed up dead. You would think something would get hit by a car.

I remember back in the sixties when I was a young man there was a lot of mountain lions in South Texas getting whacked by cars. A couple pictures in the paper every year. A lot more cars now but no large cats.

So Michael, did you find the fired case?

That is a very nice bobcat. Although we have a few sightings nearby, I haven't seen any. I am sure there is a special license and a bobcat season too.

Nope! Bad thing with a SA but honestly I do lose a good majority of my levergun cases while hunting as I never take my off the critter until I know its dead or I watch the brush for about 10 minutes before I look away. Seen to much stuff that I would have missed.
