a little range time yesterday with my rg45-70 b shooting the hornady 325 le loads and double tap 300 grain tsx load. the le load has always been very accurate and impressive on deer. i used to shoot barnes tsx at 275 grains out of my 460 smith and they are devastating on deer. i bought a couple of boxes of the double tap loading for my 45-70 and accuracy is exceptional. i will say recoil is brisk at 2200fps, the scope just barely contacts my glasses off the bench, but offhand and hunting positions no problem. anyone looking for a load with a sturdier bullet than the hornady may like to try them.

very sad! i love mine! in fact, my neighbor just picked one up last week at a gun show. funny thing, he sold his stainless guide gun because he said it kicked to hard with cowboy loads!

Oh boy, is he going to be surprised! Maybe a forum member can pick it up after he shoots it! 8-)

Never figured out one who buys a 45-70 and figures it isn't going to have a bunch of recoil energy. Too many shooters now growing up with semi-auto rifles I guess.
